Quick Action Saves Tourist

A 70-year-old British tourist suffered a heart attack in Ponta Delgada, São Vicente, this morning.  The man, who was staying in a local hotel was saved by the quick action of an individual on site, the São Vicente and Porto Moniz Fire Brigade, who while waiting for the Regional Civil Protection Service – Pre-hospital emergency Unit (EMIR) team to arrive performed CPR with the help of the External Automatic Defibrillator (DAE).   On their arrival, the man received further treatment and was taken to hospital.
