Germania Airline Files for Bankruptcy

Low cost German airline, Germania has filed for bankruptcy and cancelled all flights as of today, including four flights to Madeira.

In a statement the company’s chief executive Kasten Balke stated that the company had been unable to secure the finances needed to cover its ‘short term liquidity need.’ He went on to say that several unpredictable events such as a sharp increase in fuel prices in 2018, the weakening of the euro against the dollar and delays in new aircraft joining the fleet had all had a negative impact on the company.

The company recommends that all travellers who have booked their flights through a travel agent contact their tour operator to arrange substitute transportation. However, those who have booked directly with Germania will have to arrange their own alternative transport.
